Molo Plaza is undoubtedly one of Iloilo’s beautiful plaza especially during the holiday season where christmas lantern adorns the trees at night. Lush trees, gnarled balete trees and aged kalachuchi trees makes it a perfect spot to chill. The children’s playground needs a makeover badly though.

I was at Jaro Plaza when I chanced upon the procession of Christ’s body. The last time I saw such procession was when I was a kid. Several statues on floats in different parts of the city were being prepared for the procession. The statues depicts the last moment of Christ’s life from arrival to Jerusalem, his last supper, his crucifixion, Pieta or Mary cradling christ’s body and his death. I decided not to wait for the event since it’s difficult for me find transportation.

Grupo Las Brillas is also my current favorite next to Grupo del Oeste for delivering a festive and fun Samba dance routine. I’m looking forward to their next year’s performance and see what they’ll be up to.
Tags: Iloilo, Iloilo Paraw Regatta, Samba de Regatta, Sinamba sa Paraw RegattaGrupo del Oeste has been my top favorite among other participating groups. Their dance routine sticks for me defines what Sinamba sa Regatta should be, festive and fun. I love their underwater themed choreography. It’s a pleasant surprise to see the little girl prodigy dancer from last year’s Mesa Latino when it was represented by Mandurriao National Highschool.
Tags: Iloilo, Samba de Regatta, Sinamba sa Paraw RegattaLast year’s Sinamba sa Regatta Grupo Fuerte Baile of Fort San Pedro National High School gave a Kasadyahan type of performance. I must admit it didn’t quite fit with the expected Samba dance. I wish that their dancers wore exotic costumes. For their grand finale, their fireworks knocked out the power of the venue.
Tags: Iloilo, Samba de Regatta, Sinamba sa Paraw RegattaMesa Latino of Lapaz National High School gave a traditional kasadyahan type dance number. They were able to balance the samba moves. Their main dancer made a dramatic entrance when their boat caught fire! But that didn’t distract their performance. Talk about discipline!
